A Little About Me..

Hi there! Megan here.. welcome to my blog! A little about me.. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, a wife, and a mom of 2 precious girls. I'm a former high level athlete (long story - see below) and I'm very passionate about health. I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Health Promotion (from Auburn University - War Eagle!!), I've coached both gymnastics and strength and conditioning over the last decade, and I have been serving in ministry with FCA the last three years! I love God, I love people, and I love all things health/fitness/sports!

My Athletic Story..

Gymnastics was my first love - I started at just 2 years of age. I spent my childhood at the gym where the foundation of my athletics/career began and many life skills were developed there. I ended up walking on to the Auburn University Gymnastics Team in 2005. I was cut from the team after my sophomore year. I went from living my dream to hitting rock bottom. I saw the bigger picture and put my identity in Christ at that time. I learned to use my God-given talents to glorify Him. A crazy and amazing journey began. I learned to Pole Vault my junior year of college and then went on to Hammer Throw after that. I competed for Auburn's Track and Field Team my Senior year and first year of Grad School. I then went on to try out for the US Women's Bobsled Team. I became a pilot and raced in America's Cup, Europa Cup, and World Cup Tours. Injuries took me out of the sport but opened new doors. I competed in Weightlifting for a few years for fun while transitioning from full-time athlete to "real life" and began a coaching career.

Every single part of this story has come with many struggles and up-hill battles (lots of failure, financial struggle, sleeping on a pole vault pit for a summer to sleeping in the basement of a church, along with all of the physical injuries and emotional turmoil) but it has lead me to know and grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ (and now I hope to help other athletes through my involvement with FCA)! 1 Timothy 4:8

When my youngest was born in January of 2022, I had a very difficult delivery and almost lost my life and since then I have been on an intense journey of health striving to make a full recovery so I can fulfill the mission that God has called me to. In the process, I have been jotting down notes in my phone which have inspired this blog! My prayer is that anyone reading this blog will be encouraged in their walk with God, inspired to make healthier lifestyle choices, and embrace their calling.

Why the name Strength & Dignity for this blog? Because I strive to be a Proverbs 31 Woman!

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character 10 [b]A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard. 17 She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks. 18 She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night. 19 In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers. 20 She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. 22 She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes. 25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
